Chlorine, sand, high temperatures, and sunscreen can be harmful to UV clothing, but with the right care, you will enjoy them for several seasons. Read our tips here on caring for and washing your UV clothing to ensure they remain beautiful and functional.\n\nShower first\n\nFor hygienic reasons, it is good to shower before diving into the pool, but this has another advantage. Pool water often contains chlorine and other chemicals that are harmful to UV clothing. If you shower first, your swimsuit absorbs \"regular\" water, meaning the fabric will absorb fewer harmful substances from the pool water.\n\nRinse thoroughly\n\nAlways rinse your UV clothing thoroughly with clean, cold water immediately after swimming to prevent fabric degradation. If you need to wash your UV clothing, always do it by hand. Fill the sink with cold water and add a little mild detergent. Gently wash your UV clothing and rinse well with cold water. Do not soak your UV clothing. This is bad for the fibers and causes the clothing to lose its elasticity. Do not wring out your UV clothing. This weakens the elasticity and affects the fit.\n\nDrying\n\nAfter use, do not leave UV clothing wrapped in a hand or bath towel, otherwise, the chlorine will have more time to penetrate the fabric and the UV clothing may start to get moldy. It is best to let UV clothing air dry in the shade after rinsing. Never dry your swimsuits in direct sunlight or near a heater. Do not hang UV clothing on a metal hanger to dry. This can cause rust stains, and these stains are impossible to remove. UV clothing should under no circumstances be put in the dryer!\n\nDiscoloration\n\nDespite the colorfastness of UV clothing, it is not impossible for discoloration to occur under certain conditions. High chlorine levels, sunlight, and salt content in the sea can damage UV clothing and cause color changes. Also, some brands of sunscreen can leave (yellow) stains on the fabric that you cannot remove. Therefore, apply sunscreen 20 minutes before putting on your swimwear. If you need to reapply, try to avoid any contact with the fabric.\n\nRough Surfaces and Slides\n\nBe careful with rough surfaces, such as concrete, floors, benches, and other rough materials, as these can cause snags and wear. Slides are fun attractions at the pool, but they can cause faster wear on your clothing exposed to UV radiation. The result is thin spots, frayed fabric, and\/or holes.\n\nSand\n\nAs with all swimwear, sand can sometimes penetrate the fibers of the fabric. Due to the density of the fabric, it can be harder to rinse out dirt or sand, so stains may sometimes remain. To remove trapped sand, gently run your fingernail over the fabric when dry.\n\nNot sure about the size? Choose the larger one. If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger one.
